Mandatory Evacuation for the Jurupa Valley Discovery Center

Current Situation

CAL FIRE/ Riverside County Firefighters responded to multiple reports of a vegetation fire near east of the intersection of Granite Hills Drive and Pyrite Street, in Jurupa Valley. The first responding resource s reported 2-3 acres of vegetation burning with a moderate rate of spread, being pushed by wind uphill. Firefighters worked quickly and have stopped the forward rate of spread at 60 acres. The fire is currently 10% contained at firefighters will remain on scene into the night to build containment around the fire and mop up any hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
