The Riverside County Fire Department Fire Explorer Program is a youth development program organized through Learning for Life. It is designed to provide young men and women, ages 14 to 18, the opportunity to explore a potential career in the fire service.
Participants receive training similar to that of reserve and career firefighters, including basic fire behavior, hose evolutions, ladder operations, medical response and CPR, hazardous materials awareness, and auto extrication.
While the program is rigorous and demanding, it offers valuable rewards, including personal growth, character development, and a deeper understanding of the commitment required to pursue a career in the fire service
Fire Explorers receive the following benefits:

Minimum Requirements
- Must reside within Riverside County
- Must be between the ages of 14-18 and currently enrolled in high school
- Must be able to pass a physical agility test
- Must participate in monthly training sessions as scheduled by the Post Advisor
- Willingness to attend community events
- Must have a means of transportation to attend trainings and events
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
